Barriers to Writing

When I commenced Scoki, I decided to write my own content management system and chose Codeigniter as a framework. In the end, Scoki was a functional weblog which did (almost) everything intended.

Problems began to bubble to the surface when an entry needed to be published. Login to phpMyAdmin, enter date, title, slug, body of text and numerous other bits and pieces to achieve the end result. And when this was achieved, it was fingers crossed, seat of your pants stuff. More often than not I needed to re-edit and fix multiple issues. In other words this process was a complete pain in the arse.

Enter torticollis or more specifically, a dodgy disc in my neck. Dangerous stuff which required me to wear a stiff neck brace and rest.

Combine these two scenarios and you have a recipe for procrastination and loathing of the writing process; barriers to writing.

Sadly, I made the decision to ditch Codeigniter.

The few entries that were written prior to this entry are now ported to Wordpress. There is also a new look and a Wordpress theme which maybe released at some stage. There is also plan to include comments in the future.

So forgive the short break, writing has recommenced.
